On a very wet and windy Sunday, we agreed to play UCD 3rds in Belfield. It was very very wet and we arrived to see a large squad of young students warming up and full of enthuasism. As I got on my phone to ring at least 5 of my team, some were in bed, some on way, some in the car park, albeit Railway Union's car park. With a 2 minute warm up we started the game, as usual the students ran amok and had us pinned back, we defended very well and somehow or other we got into the game and scored a goal (Tony Spillane). Half time 1 up, UCD scored a cracking goal to level things up. 3 mins to go and yes we scored again. Derek Carroll scored after our lone forward Derek Kells laid the ball off.
Railway 2 UCD 1. As we were in the dugout the students heads had dropped so much they nearly fell off, the Guards were looking for us as we robbed the students.
Great all round team performance.
