Honorary Life Members
Written by Administrator

Honorary Life Members of Railway Union Hockey Club is a very distinct honour and one which represents the highest accolade the club can bestow upon a member.
Very few members past or present have been awarded it but the two most recent additions fully merited their elevation.

Paul O'Brien and John Maguire were awarded the title in 2004 by the members primarily in recognition for their work on the relaying of the new synthetic surface at Park Avenue. The relaying of a pitch is a major financial and administrative project in itself but this work is further compounded by the various disasterous obstacles which they faced along the way. It goes without saying that the pitch would not be there if it was not for their committment and dedication. Whilst the honorary life membership is a small token ouf our thanks to John and Paul, I believe the fantastic facility now enjoyed by all our members is the best tribute to these much valued club stalwarts.
