The 3rds had an impressive season this year, coming 1st in the league and reaching the semi finals of the cup. As usual this wasn't easily achieved and some weeks the 3rds had more of an eclectic side with floats and 4ths drafted in! In fact more than 30 people have played for the 3rds this season and its not just the core members of the squad, but every one of these people who has contributed to the success of the 3rds and this is much appreciated. We began the season well with 7 league wins in a row, then came the shock loss against 3 rock before Christmas! After that we got along with a few wins and a few draws but never matching our winning streak. after Christmas we came up with a new tactic as to how to win games... let the other teams concede a goal to lure them into false hopes... then go at least 2 goals up on them (as seen against Clontarf, 3 rock, Genesis and Navan!) but it really is the overall level of hard work and dedication from all players, coaches Mini and Nigel and our manager Laura that has helped the 3rds achieving such victory and reach Division 5, where we hope to continue our success next season.
There were a lot of people new to the 3rds this year, either from other railway teams or places further afield ( i.e. Cork!) - hopefully Mini hasnt scared too many of them off and they'll be back next year! Another special mention must go to Marion O'Grady for playing goalie for us against swords! Well done to Kim for being the 3rds top goal scorer with 11 goals and to Emma Delaney our Player of the Year!!

| The 3rds season was a bit up and down this year. We started off very badly in the league winning only one game from our first 4, which proved valuable in the end. However we soon found form and by Christmas we were in contention for a promotion spot. We started off very well after Christmas beating Loreto 2 - 0 and did well in our two toughest matches drawing against both UCD and league leaders Avoca. In the end after a couple of double weekends which resulted in a some dropped points we ended up missing out on promotion to Div 5 by 3 points... |
