Season Review 2006-07
Written by Ladies Admin

What can I say about our season, except rewind!! I had such an enjoyable time playing hockey this year with the mighty fourths that I wish the season wasn’t over. From the first game of the season to the last, there was fun and laughter mixed with the occasional rant!!! Who can forget our mammoth email session in which all the problems of the world were solved, Dr.Phil would be proud of us.   heads_sm

We won 15 matches and drew 3 thus finishing the season with a whooping 48 points. Our league was a very tight league and it wasn’t until the second last game that we were assured of winning the league for 3rd time in a row. Roll on Division 7!! We scored 48 goals and only conceded a mere 13. We weren’t as lucky in the cup, going out in the first round to Newbridge 1-0. But the plus side is that they got knock out in the next round and only finished mid table.

On the coaching side, well……………………………..We had a male coach for the first time and let’s just say that he was put through his paces by us. I don’t think Murph realised how difficult it was to control his harem every week at training. Apparently he isn’t as interested in gossip as we are!!! But his first year (of many) coaching was a complete success and he certainly taught us a few ‘tricks of the trade’. He is available for one to one coaching for anyone who is interested.

On the social side, there are quite a few people who woke on Sunday 25th March, wondering where the hell they had been the night before and why was there jelly in their shoes??? I was asked the other night to name all the people who had played on 4th during the season. I thought that we went out most weeks with our super squad and that occasionally someone was called upon to bail us out. But it turns out that there were people helping us most weekends. So a big thank you goes out to all the people who gave up their free time to come and play for us.

I would also like to thank all the people who turned up to umpire our games. It is not easy to umpire under the “evil eye” of our captain, especially if you have been dragged out of the bar to do it. Finally the biggest thank you goes to the team itself, well done girls and Murph, you were mighty!!
