In 2004 Railway Union finally replaced their old sand dressed pitch with a state of the art water based pitch at their grounds on Park Avenue in the heart of Sandymount.
The pitch is the same surface as used in the Athens for the 2004 Olympics and is now one of the best hockey facilties in Ireland. The pitch project took around 2 years to complete which was expertly managed by Railway members John Maguire and Paul O'Brien.
